Pop music today?

....or Air Supply,or Yoko Ono,or.....
I feel the same about Taylor Swift too.
Sorry, I just don't get it.
To be honest, I felt sort of the same way about Elvis and the Beatles.
But they proved to be longer lasting than I expect Swift will.

Speaking of great music. Now that Neil Peart has passed on, it wasn't clear if Rush would continue. Well, looks like they have decided to do a reunion tour. Meet Rush's amazing new drummer, Anika Nilles:

I wonder if El Estepario Siberiano was ever in the running?

Hey - I've got all his 78s!

I USED to like music...Now days you get to listen to everybody in the neighborhood's music. When you want to watch something educational on TV, it comes with it's own music track, usually some clown beating a guitar to splinters. When I worked in the auto repair industry you ALWAYS had C&W music blasting until you want to go home and kill your dog at the end of the day. In my neighborhood, they are now fining people if their music gets too loud. It is about time. GEEzz people. Keep it to yourself. ...J.D.

Most of the neighbors around here are somewhat kind.
Next door sometimes leaves his v8 beast running for an hour in the street, needs mufflers.
About two doors away, a drummer practices for hours on end, but not very loud.
One day a few months ago his band set up in the front yard.
They were at volume 11 and rising, but they were the worst band ever.
I wanted them to stop with hand signals and they might have thought i was encouraging them.
But what I really wanted was for them to learn to play well before they played loud.

Steve - does it seem that a heck of a lot of people today have nothing much to do except have fun?

TM

We recently drove through a town in Ohio that had made it illegal to play music loudly. Posted on signs when you entered the town.

Must be tough on high school bands in the auditorium! and marching bands on the football field!

Mike - if you hear a tune, but don't know the title, what app will identify the tune if you just play it?
I'm a bit slow to reply (among other things...) - we were on vacation a few days.

The Tidal app is like a jukebox. You tell it what to play, and it plays it. It does have playlists basis your past listening history - BUT, because I share it with my daughters it gets confused how one crazy person can listen to Mozart's Requiems, followed by Europop, followed by Elvis' gospel, followed by... you get the idea.

It does not "listen" to songs for you and tell you what they are. I think Siri (and similar) do that, but I have deactivated Siri.

I don't bother with most apps, so I probably miss things I would like. I just go look for things I do hear. My car radio for example lists the name and artist on the display so I get that as a head start to finding it if I want.

I use the SoundHound app to identify a song/band.
