Polyurethane cure time - wheel refinishing

All,

How long does it take for polyurethane paint, on top of an epoxy primer, to fully cure?

I am taking my steel wheels (TR4A) to the blaster for stripping, epoxy primer and polyurethane topcoat.

How long should I wait until I mount the tires? My concern is damaging the new paint with the tire mounting equipment. (Realizing the shop will mount from the backside to avoid damage to the front.)

(FYI, five wheels will cost 375, using an "industrial" stripping outfit. The color will not be a perfect match of Spa White, rather the closest "standard" off-white color they spray. I figure if I change my mind and want "perfection", I can rattle can the perfect match later. My objective at the moment is a durable quality finish.)

Depends on the humidity in your area. Personally, I would wait a week. Put in sun or in warm dry area to let set up.

Assuming the poly will be catalized then a week in a warm dry place as Larry suggested should be good. If not catalized then maybe a month instead. Also, you may not be happy with a later "rattle can match" for very long. I tried that and it just didn't last very long.
