General TR Poly bushings long term results

Hi,

I am considering using poly suspension bushings in my rebuild. I'd like to hear from those who have had them for installed for a few years... how often do they need to be lubricated to keep from squeaking, if at all?

Has any one tried the newer graphite impregnated ones? Do they require lube?

I put poly in my TR6 about 10 years ago. The only time they squeaked was during a 3,000 mile trip. It was driving me crazy. I visited a local store, purchased some silicon spray, and blindly sprayed the offensive area while pushing the car and down. I suppose a piece of stone or something was lodged in there, and once removed, the noise stopped. I used them when rebuilding the TR3.
 
I used poly bushes in the front and rear suspension and on the steering rack when I rebuilt the 4A about 13 years ago. They are holding up very well. The ride might be a little harsher than standard but I don't have a basis of comparison as I never drove the car with standard bushes. I have harder springs front and rear as well. I would go with poly for better handling and longer service life. On our recent 4600km trip with 2 people and luggage, the ride was very comfortable. Although as the picture shows, we did fit a bit of stuff in....

Nice 4. It's surprising how much you can fit into one of these. I once carried a full size bicycle in my 6, with the top up.
