Does anybody know what grit the glass shops use to polish out chips on the edge of door glass. I know they use a belt running thru water, but what grit do you think it is?

i don't believe you can polish out chips on the edge of door glass.....at least the door glass of our vintage. due to its tempering, it will explode when you try to do it. i might be wrong, but i went through a couple of pieces trying it.

do you need a piece of door glass? i might have one here that you can have. ..just pay for shipping.

I think that Mike is correct, so be careful. Years ago, we used a glass pumice mixture, which was a lot like powdered jewelers rouge, mixed with water and a buffer with a sponge type pad. But that was to remove scratches only.
