Polara Golf Balls

While I was playing golf one day I found a Polara golf ball on the Course.
I started using the ball and to my amazement my shots were much straighter. I bought some of the balls and i continue to hit straighter shots. I ball is advertised that it will fix slices and hooks and it really does. I had a golf partner try one who has a bad slice and even his hits went straighter.
has any body else ever tried these balls?

Golf: Men in ugly pants...walking!

If there's two games I don't care for it's two games of golf.

Chasing a little tiny ball around a field with a stick.....a game ONLY we men could have invented and convinced other men is a really good time!

I believe they are "illegal" (certainly competition). They've been around awhile. The trick is with the dimple pattern, and they you have to line the ball up when teeing off (which is where they are only of value). This dimple pattern causes less spin and, therefore, lessens slices and hooks.
I've never tried them, and they sound vaguely unfair.

They are illegal for the pros. But I am whats called a hacker so anything that helps my game is fine with me. At 73 I need every edge I can get. I am playing today and I am giving my friend a sleeve so I will have no advantage over him. Of course it is assumed that you can hit the ball. As far as putting I haven't seen any difference.

Remember, golf was invented by the same folks who think music comes out of a bagpipe!

I think I'd like to try them (though I don't golf like I used to).

The reason they call it golf? All the four letter words were taken.
I'll be playing with my wife at 1:09 tomorrow. I give her 3 strokes a side but she's been beating me lately so I may have to rethink it.

I'll be curious if the "effect" is only seen on drives (where you can properly tee the ball up). Otherwise, what about 3 woods off the fairway (or would that require re-positioning the ball)?

Come in Mark.

LOL Don. Well, maybe 9 months. :p

The ball has wording on it that says "ultimate straight". When you tee off you point the words on the top of the ball at your target. the ball goes pretty straight when you hit it.
In the fairway you can choose to reposition the ball or not. i have tried it both ways and to me it makes a difference if you reposition it for your fairway shot.
On the green after marking my ball I point it at the hole and my puts seem to be better also.

For putting?! Must be a placebo ball. :highly_amused:

Adding: I believe it gets its straight flight due to special dimpling on the sides. So, it should only work for flight and for serious whacks (that would cause the ball to spin and result in a hook or slice).
