Plugged Fuel Line

It seams that the fuel pipe inside the fuel tank is plugged. Car has been sitting for about 9 years. I can't seam to get a wire down the pipe because of the 90 degree bend in the fitting, or up the pipe from the drain plug hole

Anyone had the same problem and resolved it without cutting a hole in the tank?

Welcome to the forum. You didn't say what model of car.

You can try air pressure into the line. Be sure the filler cap is off first. If this doesn't do the trick you will probably have to cut the line loose from the tank & replace it.

Going through the same issue with my car. Replaced fuel tank and lines among other items. Fuel just turns to gum after a while (9 yrs definately qualifies -- mine was 16).

I was able to replace tank, lines and pump for ~ $200. Not too terrible of a deal in my opinion. Considering what an intermitent problem it could lead to (ignoring the carbs which are probably gummed up as well) -- just replace. Not a ton of $$, not too difficult on a Sprite. Not sure your car.

As another satisfied Sta-Bil user, I wouldn't put a car to bed without it. Even for short term storage, the stuff can't be beat.

Once the tank, pump, lines, & carbs are CLEAN, I have had excellent results using "STA-Bil" in the fuel for the periods of time that the car is being driven intermittently.

Absolutely no float sticking or flooding, zero problems.
