Please help! What car does this mascot belong to?

Hello,

my grandfather had a car mascot on his desk for as long as I can remember. I never really thought about what car it belonged to but now, when he has been gone for a number of years, I have been trying to find out but I just can't seem to find the proper car to go with the mascot. He only drove British cars so it seems logical that the mascot belonged to such a car, but I am not sure at all. He worked in advertising and design, and I think he was involved with some car manufacturers so now I'm
wondering if this is some kind of prototype since I can't find it anywhere.

I have gone through tons of sites online describing mascots and ornaments to any number of cars - to no avail.

Any help in identifying this would be hugely appreciated. Maybe it doesn't belong to a car at all?

Sincerely,

Pascal Denize

I am not positive on this, but that looks to be a stylized version of the Swift (arguably the oldest car manufactures in England - 1869 to 1932), though it could also be from the Swallow, a company which manufactured coachwork for Austin!

Thank you for your answer. I also believe it's a stylized version of, as you say, a swift or a swallow but I have not been able to see anything like "my" mascot on any cars from these manufacturers.

Sincerely,

Pascal

Thank you for the link! I went through all the manufacturers and am still no wiser. I appreciate the tip!

Thank you again. I tried with bird and also swift and swallow. Again no luck!

Maybe it's not even a mascot?!?

If not, it should be! Looks very "50's". What a beautiful, artistic design!

It will be interesting to see what turns up here...

Another area to search that occurs to me is the Humber Snipe and/or Supersnipe,(I'll start right after this post!!) Darned thing really looks familiar but I can't quite place it!!

Mike, I feel the same way, I have seen that somewhere before but where??? Mid 50's American something......I think??? For a moment I thought Ford Falcon, but I think that is wrong.

Boy, the head is dead-right!! The foot could have been replaced by more of a "desk-top pedestal" on yours, but what would account for the wing difference? Perhaps a different year?? (I came up with zip on my search and I even visited the site you found that on!!)

I think you have found the marque, now it's a matter of determining the year. The mascots changed details over the years. Of course you may have been right in your prior statement about this being a prototype and the one you found on the internet is the production version.

OK - apparently it's not likely to be Oldsmobile according to the guys at American Antique Car Association. So - back to square one again!

Any other ideas?

Best,

I did an intensive search last night, and I drew a complete blank!

Closest I came was on this site: https://www.mascot-mania.co.uk/

Useful resource, but I could not find anything without resorting to searching each manufacturer.......

I found the same site - I was going to suggest you email them with a link to the picture you uploaded here and ask the folks who run that site if they can ID it. If you do figure it out, please tell us!
