Playing with powder coating [not me...]

I got a few digs about all of the work being done and the crappy looking pedal and shaft that I had in the TR6. It was really obvious with the engine out of the car, so I decided to call in a marker with a friend with a P/C shop.

We had done some experimenting with this color on some medical device parts and I thought that it would look better than the dull silver that was originally on the shaft and lever. He even did the square head bolt and washers for me. :yesnod:

This powder coat color is called "Black Chrome". I have a new set of nylon bushings ready to go in, as well as some new coated aluminum collars and some anodized stainless collars. I'm still undecided about which ones to go in, but that monumental decision is for another day.

First the before, then the after pictures.

Amazing look. I need to get a friend like that

I really like that black chrome. That might have to be a choice for future suspension parts instead of semi-gloss black...:yesnod:

If I knew then, what I know now, I would have done the parts on mine in this color, but I just learned about it after mine were done.

Dale,

I'll have you know that I debated for hours about what you might approve / disapprove. I knew if I stayed close to home, with the basic car colors, that it would meet the "Official Tinster Powder Coating Seal of Approval" standards.

That's a beautiful finish. Looks like the finish you see on a rifle barrel.

That looks great, did you bake that in the kitchen oven

We have a double oven and my wife will not even share one of them with me for parts baking

My wife is still mad about the smell from the garage when I was cleaning some of the engine parts that I brought home to paint. And she's not real happy about the paint smell that is lingering for the last three days at the office either.

That Dupli-Color Ceramic high heat paint lasts a long time and so does the smell.

Poolboy!

Funny you should mention. I also like the color.

Many of the pieces I powder coated at home are
"gun barrel black" color code
