Playing around with Multi-Exposure

My 7D Mark II camera has a built-in feature for allowing you to take multi-exposure (from 1 to 9 photos) when you take multiple pictures and they get merged based on a series of rules you set in-camera. This is an example of just two shots merged using multi-exposure. This is my first attempt, but seems like it could be fun/interesting.

Years ago with my film camera (remember them?) I took a piece of black paper and covered HALF the lens. Camera was mounted on tripod and I shot a pick of me standing on left side of my car. Then I moved the black paper to the opposite side of the lens and double exposed the film with me now standing on the right side. Photo came out nice! Back then I had to wait to develop the film.

I still have my first SLR - a Canon T-70 I bought in Greece.

And I still have my Contax 139 and my 35mm Rollei. I miss using them.

That's pretty cool Bas.

Still have my Canon FT SLR with 2 extra lenses, filters, etc. plus a Ricoh point & shoot. Still makes most of today's cameras look like junk. I did throw out my enlarger, trays, developing tank, etc. I currently have a Nikon V1 with 2 lenses and a Canon point & shoot that I keep on hand for bird pictures. I don't like the shutter lag on these digital cameras. Bad for bird pictures including my hummingbirds.

I remember doing multi-exposures much more in the film days. In the school portraits we did double exposures of the student facing both ways with a larger smiling portrait in the lower right and the serious, smaller portrait in the upper left. It was very much a trite formula, but it sold well for a couple of years. I also remember accidentally hitting the film forward switch on a 35mm, and several photos later seeing that the frame number had not advanced.

Does anyone want to buy a Bronica ETRS medium format with a pair of lenses? I have the items packed to move to our new house, but I am still not quite sure why I still have them.

PS: enjoy the experimentation Basil. It is a fun idea to play with, and the instant results of digital make this easier to learn too.

 Bronica, huh? My medium format cameras went from Mamiya twin-lens to 'blad. Luckily (I think) sold the 'blad gear back in the late '80's, the Mamiya stuff wouldn't bring as much so it's still with me. Lots of Nikon gear too. Even my original FtN and F2 bodies.

Was in a "photo supply store" a while ago and in one of the cases was an F3 with a motor drive and a 50mm ∱1.4 looking like new, the price was $200. Mine looks as if it was used as a pull-toy so now it's a doorstop.

sheesh. When I think of the money.... :sorrow::grief:
