Very interesting image. Lens focal length?
 
I'd guess you used some tone mapping in there to darken the sky. That usually leaves the halo where the green of the mountain meets the sky.

Correct. Working on how to mitigate that artifact
 
I can't speak for Lightroom, but Darktable has a blur feature with it's old tone mapping. You can also set the width of the blur transition to soften the effect.

That was shot with my Panasonic Lumix100 at (I think 24mm)

I zoomed in very close and "painstakingly" played with the Clone Stamp tool to filling the light band with either the sky above the band, or in some cases the ground below, which ever seemed to work best. Then I did a little blurring to smooth the fix.
