pinion oil seal failure?

I suspect the oil seal #28 is letting differential oil out, judging by ground drips and a "spray" pattern under the car. Is this pretty common? The cap in front of it is loose, what tightens it? Should I decide to go after it, should I also do the bearing at the same time (I certainly think that would be prudent).
Thought I'd ask first!

I just did mine, for the second time, first time the seal I put in was wrong - correct Outside diameter wrong inside, hence the leak

the nut on the front of the pinion tightens all. part of the challenge is that Bentley wants 200 lb of torque - though I could only get 140 and that seems fine. we had to wedge both wheels but we managed to do it in place.

I wouldn't worry about the bearing is things are quiet.

if the pinion shaft itself is worn or grooved, you may need a speedi sleeve to restore the shaft - fortunately I didn't need one

other that the torque, it's an easy fix.

If you pull the pumkin and take it apart make sure the shims go back right or it will whine like the devil. You should be able to break it loose with an impact with high air pressure. I torqued mine back with a torque wrench on the nut and a 36" pipe wrench on the yoke. Be careful and don't over torque, but if you do just leave it cause you can't back up. There is a crush sleeve in there that really limits the pressure.
