One of the most memorable and impactful events of my childhood was when my Father took us all to see, among other things, Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam. That, and our visit to Dachau, probably had more to do with shaping my world view than anything before or since. Anyway, the lady who helped hide Anne Frank, Miep Gies has died at age 100.

If there's a heaven, surely she's in it.

A real hero, Ms. Gies. If not for her effort to save Anne Frank's diary, one of the greatest stories to emerge from WWII would have been lost forever.

What a story!

RIP, Ms. Gies.

Throughout her life, she remained a very humble woman.
She pointed to "others" as nameles heros.
