Hi guys - having a linkage problem with my '66 TR4a with ZS carbs. Basically the rod that connects the throttle /gas pedal to the carbs is too short. This is a "bitsa" car and the original link has gone missing. I tried one from a SU TR4a and it was too short.

Thanks!

Tom-

I believe the 4A ZS setup is basically the same as the TR4 - the bellcrank is in front of the first carb, not in the center pull position for the SU's - so a link for a TR4 is probably the right one. That's my story anyway!

The Moss catalog illustration may be a better reference than a photo. If you need the length of one of those links let me know and I (or someone) can measure it (wasn't sure if you needed part 86 or 90:

Thanks guys. Part #90 is the one in question.

The one from the SU TR4a was too short buy around two inches, and it was taken off a car where it fit and believed to be original.

Hmmm.

Maybe the linkage on the carb body is wrong.

The TR4A HS6 SU setup had a center pull configuration from the factory, so part #90 is at least 2 inches shorter than what you'd see on a TR4 - or a TR3 for that matter. According to Moss at least, that long link rod assembly is the same for H6 SU equipped TR3s, 3As, and 4's and the Stromberg equipped TR4s and 4As. Only the TR4A HS6 setup was the weird one.
