Picture request - RB car, chrome rear bumper

Hi all,

a quick request,

I don't think I'll be replacing the rear valence on Milo this year... but I'm not sure I can take the rubber bumpers much longer.

Has anyone simply slapped a chrome rear bumper on a RB car? If so, could I ask for some pictures? I can't decide whether the flat portion under the taillights would drive me crazy or not.

Thanks in advance,
Duncan

Yes, that's what I've done.
BillM has seen it in person, so you could ask him how he thinks it looks. I have pictures.

It is pretty hard to notice the missing parts on Rick's car but then the color does tend to hide it. It is probably OK to just do it and live with it for a while, if it bugs you then later-on you can do something about it. Your car's color would probably hide it too.

I've also seen your fabrication skills with the Rabbit - and think you could wither make something fit or even make a foam fibreglassed buck to fit over and blend in till you get around to changing it all.

I know I posted it elseware but here is the extra bracket my "guy" fabricated to hold the bumper - I went with the split bumpers which I think are way prettier.

I'd say go for it!

Thanks very much guys... Yes, I agree with all of the above.

Rick, did you notice a difference in the ride height?

JP, I've got a set of split bumpers (and a set of the early full bumpers) hanging in the rafters, waiting to go on...

Yes, I lowered the front but haven't done anything with the back. I noticed the handling improve without the RB's.

I took out the spacer blocks at the front of the springs and had the actual springs dearched about an inch - cost me $60 and a couple hours time

Interesting! Did you find it changes the spring rate, makes them less or more stiff?

so far nothing to bounce - but, a guy in my club had done it and had no problems
