Looking for pics of SU's on a 1275 that show details of the carb linkage. Something doesn't seem quite right on mine.

Thanks...

Happy Birthday Jack!!

Bruce, HIFs can have various linkage assemblies, depending on application, but here is mine:

I have an extra throttle return spring below the carb; that's purely a personal preference, as I like a heavy pedal.

Bill,

That looks like a nice neat setup...good job. I should have been more specific, looking for the linkage setup ona pair of SU's on a 1275...the standard setup.

Hope mine looks as good as yours when I'm done.

thanks.

Oops; mis-communication. I had remembered your HIF questions earlier, and just assumed...

And yes, I know what they say about "assuming" things, thank you.

Thanks for the nice words, by the way. I'm sure yours will turn out fine. I actually like the looks of the twins better; I just like the way a single HIF6 performs on a 1275, once you get things set up right...

Here are two photos that might help. Unfortunately, the cables were removed before I was able to take the picture, but I might be able to explain after the second photo. These are from at 1275 '67 engine, so if yours is different it may not be totally accurate.

In the second photograph I have noted the location of the choke cable attachment at "A" and the throttle cable attachment at "B". There is a fitting similar to that at "A" that goes into a hole in the metal "wing" that extends off the back of the throttle shaft.

According to the books, when you adjust the linkage there is supposed to be a small space between the curved edge of the "wing" and the heat shield. I don't remember the space size, but it is supposed to be set with a feeler gauge. It can be done single handed, but it helps to have an assistant.

Good news, I was able to get some snaps of the newly installed setup on my car. Again, this is a '67 1275.
