Post-War Other Picture Needed - Herald and/or Vitesse Speedometer

I'm about to start tinkering with another speedometer project. An acquaintance said that the "center" portion I need for this project would possibly have been used on the Vitesse or Herald speedometer.

Could any of you (Andy?) with Heralds or Vitesse(s) post a picture or two of your speedometer? It would be greatly appreciated.

Andy, this is a project for my Mini. I have a Cooper-S with a KPH speedometer. The stock Mini speedomters have no trip meter. To supplement my stock speedo I have a bicycle speedo stuck to the dash for accuracy and a trip meter.

The Works racing Minis had a different speedometer that had a built in trip meter. The movement for the Works speedometer are basically the same as some of the early MGBs. However, the face of the Mini speedo needs a center disk with cutouts for both the trip and odometer windows where a stock Mini speedo only has the one cutout. An acquaintance in the U.K. suggested that the center disk form a Vitesse or Herlad would be the correct insert to use with the early Mini speedometer to support the trip menter.

I am always working with gauges and my current project is to mount the MGB movement in a Mini speedometer housing. I either need to locate a broken Herald/Vitesse speedometer as a donor for the center disk or I need to machine a copy of that center disk to use in my project.
 
Makes sense, Doug! The Mini and Herald speedos are quite similar; physically, I believe they are the same size (except the early Herald 948 twin-carb, which used a smaller 4" speedo and had a separate fuel gauge). Again, if you want a high-res closeup of a Herald speedo, let me know!

I meant to add in my last post that part of this project is also to use an MPH gauge movement so I can do away with the bicycle speedometer.

To paraphrase what I said in my email, I believe my acquaintance in the U.K. is mistaken. I believe he thought the center disk of the Herald/Vitesse speedometer was a separate part from the larger gauge face (as was done on early Minis). From the picture you sent it looks like the entire gauge face is one piece with a recessed center section with the odometer windows.
