I'm switching the tail lights over on Frank to the older style IMHO more graceful and beautiful 60's style.

I have a good pair of lenses, but I need the older bases.

Anyone have a pair? I don't need show quality here, I prefer rust free of course.

PM me or post here please. These can be from a Midget, Sprite, MGB or MGC.

If you would like to trade for the 70's style with lenses just let me know /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Re: I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light bases -anyone?

Do you also need the trim rings?

Re: I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light bases -anyone?

oops - forgot all about them.

Yes, yes I do need them.

There is a pair of used trim rings for sale on ebay right now, but getting a package including bases and trim rings and light sockets and wires would be best!

I only have the lenses.

Re: I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light bases -anyone?

I may have a set of rings.. . slightly pitted IIRC. I'll try to look later.

Re: I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light bases -anyone?

Thanks Trevor!

Re: I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light bases -anyone?

Ehhh, I found the rims .... but they are pitted pretty bad. I'm not sure they are worth the postage. I got them free when I bought my 62-69 lamp bases. However, I'll send them to you if you want to use them to "get by" for awhile. PM if you want them.

Re: I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light bases -anyone?

That's OK Trevor, I'll wait until I get the right deal.
Maybe get a complete pair of them on Ebay and then sell off whatever I don't need. It would be perfect to get the bases with the rings and no lenses - but if we all waited for perfect we wouldn't own LBC's /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Re: I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light bases -anyone?

I'd check Drew's classified page.....there might be some on there /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Re: I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light bases -any

I found that a pair from a '63 MGB fit perfectly.
Man, those look so much better (to me) than the more modern, flat, two tone '78 lights.
My Artist daughter took a look and agreed, the 60's tail lamps were so much more stylish!

I know, a post without pictures is like...

So here it is:

Thanks to BillM for giving me this idea - I really didn't like the 70's lights. These are just way more attractive to me.

Re: PICS - I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light bases

Now just get some amber upper lens for your turn signals - they're available.

Re: PICS - I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light bases

Look good, yes indeedie.

Re: PICS - I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light ba

Now my daughter just says if I would paint it something other than that awful hideous brown...

Re: PICS - I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light ba

Rick
It is looking good! Keep up the good work
Did that SU manifold ever work out?
Bill

Re: PICS - I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light ba

He didn't want to sell only part, just all or nothing.
Still, it went pretty fast.

Re: PICS - I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light ba

Just aesthetically I wish Glo-Brite or some aftermarket maker woudl make lower lenses without those reflectors. Just smooth, so the rear lamps would look even more aesthetically pleasing /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Probably not enough of a market though to work up the molds to press them.

Re: PICS - I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light ba

Those darn plastic injection molds are very very expensive even for the soft ones for limited runs.

Re: PICS - I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light ba

I really like the older style too. I got the amber uppers for the B when I did the car:

Re: PICS - I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light ba

Doc - has that car ever been hit in the rear? Or is it just the angle of the photo (slightly off-center)?

Re: PICS - I need a pair of 62 - 69 tail light ba

It's been whacked. Both ends. Poorly repaired when I got it (1988). It's straight now, tho. Mebbe the photo angle. I took a LOOONG time with porta-power and braces, has a "new" trunklid (old one was drilled for a rack and had "fangs" from rust) too. Where do you see a distortion?
