Pics of my Wiring [Masters] and Dash [Prestige]

Greetings,

Here are a few pics of my wiring process (Masters'/Advance Auto Wire) and completed dash courtesy of Randy Keller / Prestige Autowood. I have an insert coming for the switch plinth as well from him just not here quite yet. Also, here is a link to my photobucket site for more pics.

I took a complete "photo essay" of the installation of Masters' Harness but all the pics vanished off the camera and my Wife denies having anything to do with it. So I'm pretty limited here.

dave- I know from your last post about the wire wrap it is called sake skin. Where can I get it???

Re: Pics of my Wiring [Masters] and Dash [Prestige

Snake skin is a material generally used for aviation wire routing. Companies like Aircraft Spruce will have it but I would just seek out a local Avionics shop at an airport and ask them if you can buy some of theirs. It comes in various sizes with different expansion values. I used 1/4" and 1/2" which expand to about 4x their size when compressed. For that reason you'll need more than you think. The aircraft guys use wax string to close off the ends however for auto use I would recommend "cotton splicing tape" which can be found at any home / hardware store. It only sticks to itself and makes a nice finish as the wires are pulled out of the skin at various locations.

WOW. Unbelieveably nice work. This is my type of car - strong, inventive, creative. My two favorites together at last!

Cut the ends with a hot knife and invert the end so it is inside of the main portion of the snakeskin. The loop you just formed is now the end of the snakeskin. Phil

Re: Pics of my Wiring [Masters] and Dash [Prestige

I see the tach is indicating about 850 RPM's. Is that bad boy running??

Sweet job by the way! The absolute correct way to do everything. Can't wait to see finished pics, but keep the progress pictures coming as well.

Re: Pics of my Wiring [Masters] and Dash [Prestige

Prdon my ignorance, Quelle "box" lower right hand corner of the passengers foot well ???

Re: Pics of my Wiring [Masters] and Dash [Prestige

The "box" is the computer for the BMW M3 Engine. It has since been mounted above that are on the inside of the footwell box where the washer bottle fastens through. The Power Block is upside down right above that area as well inside the footwell.

Also in reply to whether it is running or not. It does fire and run but was not in the picture. For some reason, the Autometer Tach rests at 850ish when powered off and goes to 0 when the ignition is turned on. Their tech guy says that is normal.
