pics of my TR7 2.3 turbo project!

Not content to do the standard TR7 V8 conversion, I am doing something fresh. I've done a little bit of work, and got the mounts done for the TR7 2.3 swap.

Here's a link to the start page with history.

And here's to go right to pictures and skip the blah-blah. Just keep scrolling to the bottom of each page and hit next until you run out of pictures.

Wadya think? Dialup beware.

I also listed my TR6 for sale in the classifieds. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Wow. Seriously cool project. I have daydreamed about doing such a swap(with 5-speed) into my Spitfires...probably would need to get a GT6 hood though.
I'm not sure of your engine source, but one of my favourite 80's cars is the Merkur XR4TI.

That thing should haul a$$.

Hi Jim,

That's an interesting project! Best of luck with it. Keep us posted.

(And thanks for the dialup warning, I didn't have time to look at a lot of it!)

Re: pics of my TR7 2.3 turbo project!

Thanks Adam and Alan!

I have a 1988 Merkur xr4ti and a 1988 Thunderbird Turbocoupe. I love them both and have a hard time deciding which to drive! The Merkur has a T5 and the 'bird has an auto.

The 7 should be pretty quick. My engine mods will be strictly bolt-on with the exception of a wee bit of head work. I'm still keeping stock valves.

It'll use Megasquirtnedis (my Merkur has been Megasquirted since 2004), a T3/T04E 50 turbo on a tube header, mild cam upgrade, and 65 lb injectors. More than enough I'd think for over 250 HP to the wheels using a Porsche intercooler and water/alky injection if necessary.

I would like to put the Mazda/Ford (all aluminium) Duratec into a Spit personally. The lump I'm using is uber heavy and would stand a Spit on it's nose! LOL

I just came in from the garage and the diff is on the floor for the next phase. Too bad work gets in the way or I'd have the Ford diff in by this weekend.
