Well,got the MG done late friday night(well almost,carpet kit missing one piece) and hidden away for car show yesterday.As a refresher since I have only posted a couple times,I built this car as a retirement suprise for my dad,to be given to him at our local show yesterday.Woke up early saturday,mom kept him home doing yardwork and washing the cars. We snuck his car in the show with strict orders for mom to call when they came down to join us for lunch ! Bought him some nice leather driving gloves and the appropriate british style driving cap and set up the raffle with his presents/awards already tagged with his name for later.Noon,pulled car around behind anouncers booth,tension building,Dad has no idea yet,wins his raffle prize HUH ? gloves and hat ? Try to keep it cool,say interesting prize,move along to about 2:30 PM,wins again,car cover,small ! Now he drives a extra cab truck but the cover is more generic and believable not so much a setup gift like the hat and gloves,goes OK.final hours winding down with some games,contests and final raffle prizes and wow,they call his name again ! This time,he is beginning to think something is up,anouncer says,tell me a little about yourself,why you are here and so on.He says because we(my wife and daughter) have cars in the show and he is here to visit and support.Anouncer says,I understand there is another project in the family,Dad says yes,old MG,still sitting in the paint shop,LONG ways from being a show car.Now the anouncer has him facing crowd and away from entrance,My daughter pulls the car around behind him,less than 20 feet away !Anouncer says maybe you might recognize the vehicle behind you,Dad turns around and moment is PRICELESS !!!!! The look on his face was UNBELEIVABLE ! Tears,stunned amazement,could NOT beleive it was HIS car !Handed him the keys,my little on(4 yr old in other pics) jumped in the pass seat and away they went to applause from the crowd ! Could not have gone better,I feel good,He really deserves it for all he has done for me,have lots of pics,will share a few.Sorry for long post ! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
