Photoshop Anyone?

Anyone out there familiar with Adobe Photoshop? Maybe you can help me reduce the file size of a photograph to under 14k so I can use it for an Avatar.

I have lowered the image size to less than the maximum 80 x 80 pixels. I have lowered the resolution to 80 pixels/inch, even though this makes the image almost a blur.

But the file size is still over 21k; too big for an Avatar.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

John,

Email me the original file (high resolution is better) and I will give it a try.

Cheers,
John

Ignore DPI resolution. That is only for printing. Just leave it at 72 DPI, which is what all monitors display at.

Once you have reduced the file size, use the "save for web" feature. Then play with the quality setting and you will find a good compromise between quality and file size.

Thanks, John!

The chequered flag design looks cool!

Very nice and racey, Doc.! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Exactly what I was going to say - even the quotations

Hot ..... It worked! I am getting so darn smart, I can't stand it...

The best thing about that photo is that the mirror obscures my ugly mug!

A great little photo utility that is FREE for the taking for those whom can`t justify the cost of, or don`t have the patience and or will to learn how to manipulate Photoshop
Do a Google search for INFRANVIEW be sure to get the plugins.

P.S. This program has a great slideshow feature. And is VERY user friendly. Not as many "Bells and whistles" as Photoshop, But enough to crop, cut, paste, resize, convert file types, and MORE!
