Comcast fixed their issue (Quest cut their lines -- stupid folks apparently don't talk to each other), so here's the photos of my weekend's work. Tunebug is all prepped now for the real work ahead of me. No excuses now, just need to get busy!

And what color are you going to paint that engine compartment?

It's staying black for now, Tony. I'm not doing any body work or painting right now. Might touch up a bit of the black if it needs it. I'm staying focused on the mechanical work so I can be driving it this year. A critical decision, so I can stay interested in the old car hobby.

In a couple of years I'll tackle the body and paint. Stripping a bugeye down is a pretty easy task. Then he'll get a nice, fresh coat of OEW.

Nice one Drew!
Yanked mine on Saturday, my first time. Tis fun eh?
I need all mine back together and in top notch in less than a month.
What's your timeline?

I want to be driving before the snow flies in November.

Seriously, though, I'm not making any deadlines on this project, otherwise I'll just get stressed about it. It'll get done this year for sure, but that's as specific as I'll get. I'd like to have it done for the end of June (our local British car show) but that's not all that likely. It will be done when it's done, and not a moment sooner.

I'll just bring my Bonnie to the show and call it good -- it's British, after all.

If I can't get mine out of the paint booth soon, you may need to help me push it off the trailer!

hopefully mine will be installed tomorrow - the hoist comes around noon - and everything is laid out and ready to go.

I'll post pics as soon as I have them

Drew

I can't quite tell from the photos, where did you attach the lift brackets? Are the lift brackets "standard"?

Front bracket attached to the top water pump bolt, back bracket to the rear-most manifold stud. The brackets came with the engine leveler that I bought when I bought the engine hoist.

When I pulled the engine out of the midget, I used the valve cover studs, and bent one of them. This time, I used more secure bolts and everything came out just fine, no damage.

If you use the right gizmo the rocker studs are the "factory" way. We fabbed this one up using the illustration of it from the Bentley book's "tools" section. Back in 1970, IIRC. It has yanked a LOT of BMC engines over the years, just replaced the "legs" and haven't yet used that set. But the day will come, certes.

Just noticed the ~termite~ damage on that trim strip... bugs are long gone, I gotta do more "home work". :smirk:

If nothing else, home ownership means you'll never lack for something to do.

My favorite comic strip, the Canadian "For Better or For Worse":

Add in the evenings spent gigging to earn money for the cars and bike... homework is on the end of the list, gets done when it has to.

Having no kids helps tremendously...
