If anyone is interested, check out https://71.138.56.101/family/pictures10.asp for a picture series showing the rolling wreck I bought home at the end of September, and how it is today - 20 weeks later a week or so away from being fired up! Still interior and paint job needed - but you can see how its looking.

Neil - insane diego CA, 88 deg outside right now!

Looking good! let us know how the start up goes

Looks like it was red at one time.

Nice, very nice.

Yes, very red!
The entire engine compartment is now black, I'm trying to decide on final body color, BRG is the favorite right now, not sure about carpet.

BRG is lovely, I however am a bit partial to Brooklands Green /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif :

Nice job Neil! Keep up the good work and don't forget more photographs.

That warm sunny weather looks mighty good also.

great job neil. i can appreciate the work you put into it. i'll take the blue over that "red" color!

You have good taste....
Midget, Land Rover, 928.....
That's some good work in a short period of time.
~I'd go with the BRG too~

i agree with BRG. personnally, i am fighting with BRG or gunmetal for my tub. BRG was the original color, but after all this work, i'm not sure i don't just want to go to the edge and defy convention.

Update - she runs!
With the basic ignition wiring redone and everything that is needed to start hooked up, I went out and picked up a Group 51R battery, hooked it up, then i dropped about 1/4 a cup of gas into the carb via the fuel line, gave it a little squirt of starter fluid and hit the switch.
For the first time since 1994 it started up immediately and ran for a short time until the fuel was used up.

Wow, what a good feeling, good oil pressure, no unusual noises in that short time and repeated 2 more times without starter fluid.
Only problem i found was the plug and O ring on the underside of the carb leaking gas, so a new one is on its way to me.

Now to finish the wiring........

Neil

Starter fluid is bad for a Zenith-Stromberg carb diaphram. You'll probably wat to replace it because of its age.

oh... And congrats. Keep us posted.
