Howdy all. Just curious if anyone has photos of a 250 or a 4a with Silverstones. Thanks!

Bill: Enjoy!

Peter: Thank you. Just take your time, and I am sure you will be very pleased with the results.

All the best. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Does any one know where I could purchase a set of Silverstones like in the picture?
Can they be purchased new? Any good re-productions?
(I already have a set of Superlites, but they are NOt
Silverstones!)
What is the rim width?
What to look for when inspecting used wheels?

They are, alas, the Holy Grail of TR250 accessories. Compared to Silverstones, a perfect set of ROstyle hubcaps are common (I have ten perfect ROstyles, hehehehehehe). Nobody makes current replicas, to my knowledge. There were four pretty good ones on eBay that I was going for last night, but they went for $2125, so I bailed. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Bill,

I had wondered if that auction prompted your original post. I wonder if anyone has contacted American Racing and told them of the interest in these wheels. They might bring them back if they knew there was a market for them.

I was also watching the ones on Ebay but they were too rich for my blood as well /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

americanracing.com series 401 wheels

The AR 401 are almost... but they just don't look right! The originals are still better than the repros... sigh...

The current 401 American wheel is called a Silverstone, but the spokes are way different from the old look wheel.
The current 401 is very much like a Panasport or a Superlite.
I have the Superlites and wish I had the Old Silverstones.

Ayup -- I was holding in there almost to the bitter end, but just couldn't hold on that long!

It's possible that Boyd Codington or Chip Foose's wheel builder would make them. If there was enough interest and enough people put up a down payment one of the two might consider making a run.
They would most likely have machines centers welded to the rim.
American Racing also has a custom shop.

Now that is a fantastic idea! Is anyone interested?

I actually had a solution to the missing faux knock-offs. My father is a professional restorer, and he and I talked about making a male/female adaptor (no jokes, please!) so that I could simply pick up some standard knock-offs and make an adaptor that would thread into the knock-offs on one end, use an industrial epoxy to hold it in place, and then have it thread into the wheel.

Lets build some wheels!!
15 x 6.5
or
15 x 6.0
with the correct set back.

And how much would this cost?

I wonder if Superlite could build this wheel?

I have been writing to American Racing about the possibility of them making the Silverstones again and not even a reply. I just sent them another e-mail with this forum thread web address included. Maybe if they heard from more of us they might wake up and make these great wheels again.

A set of silverstones came up on ebay today, in the TR6 section.
