Phil Frank / Nigel Shiftright Memorial Ornament

I received the following message today on an email list. I've already bought one myself.

For those who don't know of Phil Frank, he was a well known cartoonist among other talents. An avid British car enthusiast, he may be best known in the automotive world for his "Nigel Shiftright" cartoons. Road and Track recently did a road test of Nigel's MG TC which they entitled "Four Angry Cylinders". It is a must read for any car enthusiast, especially if you like making fun of MGs!

The message, and the point of this post follows....

-----------------------

Phil Frank, the creator of "Nigel Shiftright" passed away in September of this year. At that time, several people expressed a desire to memorialize
him with some activity or action.

A few days after Phil died, I sculpted a keepsake ornament to be sold with the profits sent to Phil's favorite charity, the Yosemite Association.

With the help of Terry Sanders, Susan Frank, Phil's wife and the consent of his family this project has been launched and is now ready to market. The Yosemite Association has been contacted and we are ready to make the first casting run of 500 pieces.

I have listed all the details on eBay (item No. 170164054352) to purchase this ornament for your MG collectibles and support the educational, research and funding activities of Phil's favorite charity.

We all will miss Phil and his whimsical view of life and motoring.

Just bought mine!

And sent this information on to the MG Council members!

Thanks for the info!

I am going to pick up one as well. I have been a fan of Nigel for a very long time. I like the picture on the ebay sight with the MG pulling the front wheels off the ground.

That's great, guys! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Ron, that picture is from the R&T article. You should give it a read!

Had mine about a month ago... But that could be because the gent making the ornaments lives down the street from me. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif Oh, and he also owns an MGB and a MG TC. Both are very nice. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

The MG TC group is actually where the message originally came from. Phil Frank was a member of one of our MG TC-only clubs here in California called Abingdon Rough Riders. Someone is going to be driving a rather well-known MG TC when Phil's car is sold.

I figured it was on a TC list that you received it. Ben is very proud of his TC, he should be, its beautiful! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif
