I have a very slow gas leak from the fuel pump glass bowl. It seems that I cannot adjust the nut to the proper tension to stop the leak. I have tightened it, loosened it, etc., and finally left it in the spot where I felt the leak was minimized. It is very slow, and only seems to occur when the car is off and the pump has stopped pumping.
The gasket looks pretty good and I even switched the gasket with the one on my spare pump and I am still getting the slow leak. The leak is not a lot, but it is just enough to be a little stinky in the closed garage. Any suggestions for getting the seal to hold? Is there something I can "coat" the gasket with to get a better seal? I know there are some sorts of greasy lubrication for o-rings and things like that, but since this is in contact with the fuel, I am not sure if there is anything like that that I can use.
