Pertronix offered for less

I have not had to deal with their customer service since this is the only item I've purchased from them. They are quite a large supplier but that does not mean they take care of the customer. All I can tell you is the price was right and they shipped quick.

That is a good price but TRF just had these on sale this past weekend and were thorwing in a free petronix coil. Mine just arrived.

Retro Rockets is just about as good pennies difference. Plus they will match the price with free shipping included.--Fwiw--Keoke

After hearing about all the problems with the failures, I think I will get a spare to carry in the trunk. What part number do I need to order for the TR6?

What is the consensus on petronix dependability? The carshopinc website lists the units by car model.

I've used the system only 500+ miles; but no problems.

Which of these (if either) are the correct numbers:
LU-162A PERTRONIX Ignitor LUCAS 6 Cylinder
LU-166A PERTRONIX Ignitor LUCAS 6 Cylinder
I saw pleanty of tractor brands but nothing for TRIUMPH.

vettedog,
I think the LU-166A is the unit you need. I have a unit from moss (222-395 moss number) and the box is stamped as petronix part no. LU-166A.

Jeff at Advanced Distributors recommended the Pertronix. Brosky has indicated his satisfaction with this system also. However, like Paul, I am having Jeff assemble and set a plate with points so if there is a problem I can simply remove the plate with the Pertronics and install the plate with the points and be on my merry way. I will not even have to adjust them according to Jeff.

I am anxious to get my dizzy back. It should arrive in the next day or two, maybe even today.

I've been running a Pertronix Ignitor in my TR6 for nearly nine years. Zero trouble from it.
