Pertronix Ignitor Electronic Ignition Installation

Re: Pertronix Ignitor Electronic Ignition Installa

Sherman,

Sounds interesting. How & where exactly do you "put the vacuum gauge on the intake"?

Cheers,
Gavin

The coil was $32 and last year I replaced my 50 year Lucas coil with a 49 1/2 year old Lucas coil I had as a spare. I though I would get a new one for some peace of mind. Whether I my car's ignition system needs to use the full potential of the coil or not I though the price was good. Regardless of what type of ignition you have, when the coil fails, zero potential never leaves the coil.

Thought I would add a question to this topic. Where have people located the ground wire coming out of the distributor? The instructions say it should go to a chasis ground, so I looking for ideas on what others have done.

Aloha,

On a negative grounded car, the black wire from the module would go to the negative terminal of the coil and the red wire to the positive terminal of the coil. I can't say for certain if this reversed on a positive earthed car.

What instructions are you reading? The Pertronix Ignitor instructions say only that if you removed a ground wire, put it back.

On a Lucas dizzy, that would only be the short wire from the movable point plate to one of the screws that holds the fixed point plate to the dizzy body.

Guys.. the stuff is junk...to include all those easy install electronics...

Installed in my race car, had to jury rig the installation (they gave me one itty bitty sheet metal secrw to hold the unit in the distributor..

added another hold down..

Totally failed on me on race day... fortuanately i brought along a complete stock distributor...

Do yourself a favor, take the $120 or whatever, and take your wife out to dinner, the results will prove much more conclusive.....
