Pedal Rubber

Did triumphs (TR6,GT6,Spitfire) ever have rubber on the gas pedal? It seems like every one I see don't have rubber on the gas pedal. If they did have rubber does anyone make replacement, If they did not have rubber what is correct? No paint, silver paint or black paint? Just curious, not that far in my project but it has always botherd me.

All the ones I've seen, which really isn't that many, had black paint. One reason the Q-tip and Armorall crowd carry a black magic marker, so they can touch up the tiny scratches gotten when they drive it from the trailer to the show ground. Of course powder coat would be the way to go if one had the opportunity to do it.

Whereas you definitely do not want your foot slipping off the brake or clutch pedal, you do want your foot to easily slide on the accelerator as you press it. Pretty typical among British cars I think and pretty smart too.

I liked it so much that when I also drove Fiats I would pull the rubber pad off the accelerator on them.
