Pedal box blanking plate for a RHD Frog Eye

Anyone got a photo that has a decent shot of the pedal box blanking plate for a RHD Frog? This would be the blanking plate for where the pedal box would be on a LHD car. My Dad has an early 58 Frog and we are unsure if what he has on his car is original or not? THanks much
Simon

I don't think I have a photo but if memory serves on my Frog it was a panel that overlapped the hole by about an inch all around and was recessed slightly where the hole is if that makes sense?

Hi Simon,

Saw your Dad's frogeye on FB and it sure looks very nice. The blanking plate did stand out to me as non-original looking. I wonder if the plate was changed when the additional battery cables were added? Here's a pic of a '60 which shows what would be the same blanking plate as used on LHD cars. It would make sense the LHD and RHD plates would be the same. The only other possibility is as a '58 there might be some differences from later production cars. I'm away from home and my resource books, but will check further when I get back this weekend.

Thanks Rick, I think the only real question at this point is if the panel was different on some of the very early cars? Quite clearly what he has on his car is not what the current replacement part looks like. Overall this is a really nice sprite and I am delighted that he has it to keep himself active and engaged.

Simon, the plate appears the same on the early cars. My car is an October 1958 car (one of the last of the 9 stud cars) and it has the plate that Rick shows above.

Thanks Hugh, his car is a few months before yours. Personally I think it is a replacement home made panel. But as I have learned with my very late MG TD (built just 5 years earlier), things in Abingdon were not always consistent.
