TR2/3/3A Peak inside the TR3 sill

I connected with a great local resource who is going to help me with the TR3a rust issues - will probably mean the kids will need a scholarship to attend college but what the heck.

Hard to tell for sure - but the inside of this sill looks OK to me - what do you think?

That part of the inner sill looks fine to me. Rust can be very localized, though, so you can't tell for sure till the outer sill comes off.

Have a good look around both ends (it would appear that you have). If all seems solid, you have saved yourself a considerable sum with much less disruption to the car. Perhaps the kids will need only partial scholarships.

Hi guys - fingers crossed. If the inner can get saved it will be drowned in rust converted and then cavity wax....

(shhh Tom - don't tell the kids. They think they need academic scholarships)
 
What is cavity wax? I used a product called Corroseal on the rust in the sill. Didn't know there was a product I could add to prevent further issues?
 
+1 Luke, easy to work with but needs a LOT of coating.

Karl, there are several options on the Eastwood site. I've also used the Heavy Duty stuff they have but very smelly for a good while.

My basic run of thumb is that unless it runs away from me it gets shot with rust converter and then covered in cavity wax. SOP for well taken care of UK cars.
 
I just sprayed the Eastwood Frame spray (Luke's recc) in the rebuilt box section (behind rear apron) of my TR3A. Tied the flex tube to a metal rod and fed in past the half way point in the lower box section. I dumped an entire can in there and pray that will coat the inside well and prevent future rust. Seems like a nice product and the tube with spray nozzle worked great. I will also spray my frame, when I remove the body in a few weeks.
