Passing of a friend...

My very dear friend Don Whelchel passed on this morning. He only got to drive his 55 on one good trip this summer, but at least he was given that much time. The TR2 we had restored got a reported 39MPG on the trip which caused him a lot of smiles.
He was a great guy and if he had had the time you would have seen him on the road all over this summer grinning and loving the open road.

Sorry to hear that, MD. I hope his family and friends, and you too, get through it OK. It's tough to lose a friend, and a loss this time of year can make it tougher sometimes. I'm glad he got to take that trip and got back some of the good times he invested.

Very sorry MD - just remember you helped him have those smiles this summer.

We will drive the Tr4 out to Salina tomorrow am ,with another friend in his Bugeye sprite. There will be at least one more Tr in the motorcade up from Wichita.
Don was one of the best, and will be missed by all. His biggest dream was to get to drive his Tr2 around the country. He worked long and hard to save his old 55, but sadly came up short on time.
One of his sons will likely windup with the car, perhaps he will catch the bug and drive it about.I hope so,kids are the future of us all.

Sometime tomorow morning I will spend a momment thinking of friends, family, and lost ones in memory of your friend Tom. Enjoy your ride even though your friend will not be with you in person but will be in spirit.

Sorry to hear of the loss MD. It's always tough and words can do little. He will be in my thoughts as I work on my car in the next few days.

Regards, Tinkerman
