Passing Cali smog

Good news (sort of), my mechanic says he sees a light at the end of the cali smog tunnel. My 78 midget's been with him since January and I may be getting her back soon. He's been slowly adjusting the carb to pass smog. I tried to no avail so swallowed my pride and brought it to the only guy in town who would touch her.

Nine months for a carb adjustment!? I hope you aren't paying him by the hour. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Skinsgamer - why are you worried about passing the California smog test? I lived in California for 30 years and cars over 25 years old were always exempt. Did California change the rules in the last few years?

Monark is right. No sliding scale of 25/30 years in California. 1975 is it. If your going to buy a classic in California, make sure it's a 74 or earlier.

The nine months have been pretty much the kind of "when he has time he fiddles with the toy". I have an estimate for $300.00 to do the carb and adjust valves, timing etc... to pass smog.

And yes, in Cali don't buy classics newer than 74!!
