Parts vendor warning - I was ripped off

Dear Ev,

I thought I might get a bit of a response about the winter weather here. I was in Calgary for the first time last February on business.

Reminded me of when I live in Chicago - cold and WINDY. Coldest I ever was in was about 30 below zero (let's see -34C?) up in Michigan, I bet you get colder up there in the great white north.

I envy your summer/fall - here it is just unbelievably hot, I stay outside doing stuff, but it is tough, although you don't have to shovel sunshine!

I have had xlnt success with Vintage Automotive - never a problem--they have a website. They sell a few items to Moss for resale.

This is Leighton from British Parts Northwest, I see this problem keep coming up in lists about people getting take by less than honest vendors. The only way to protect yourself is by paying with a credit card. If you send the vendor a check and they cash it you have no leverage. With a credit card you have rights and if the vendor wants to keep their credit card privileges they will take care of the problem. Also if a person says they are a true business they should take credit cards. The local Costco offers this service at a good rate for small companies. In short beware if a company does not take cards, they are no different that a stranger you meet on the street.

Welcome to the forum Leighton! That's probably very sound advice indeed!

[ In the interest of full disclosure, I buy stuff from BPNW all the time for both my Spitfire and my XKE an have always been very pleased with their service, attitude, response, etc., and I invited them to check out the forum.]

Glad you finally made it onto the BCF! I'm sure you will be an asset to the many LBC lovers who hang out here!
