Has anyone bought parts (wiring harness, boot liners, etc) from ebay seller Britboy55? Pictures and prices in the ads look pretty good, but without a hands on inspection it's hard to evaluate. I need to buy a wiring harness soon for my BN1. What is the best harness out there? Closest to original????

Thank you,
Sopp

I notice that they don't list their prices. So does that mean, "If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it"???

I've never understood why people advertise something for sale but then don't tell you the price.

Is the owner of British Wiring a member of this Board? I don't want to offend him, but I simply don't do business with companies that don't have an open pricing policy. I figure they must be hiding something.

British Wiring does have a 'price quote' form that you can submit electronically.

https://www.britishwiring.com/Harness.htm (click on the price quote button)

I would guess that the prices fluctuate often due to exchange rates. My understanding is the harnesses/components are manufactured in England and shipped over. The component prices are listed if you click the 'whole catalog' button.

Cheers,
John

While I generally agree with your policy, in this case I would recommend that you make an exception. BW is widely and highly respected. I have their harnesses in both of my 100s. IMO (and that of my others), they are The Standard.

Several years ago I repaired my original harness(replacing the "red melted" wires with new ones and sent the harness to Rhode Island Wiring Service and they rebraided it to factory specs. It came back to me in great shape. Most of the time the "red" wires in the center of the harness seem to melt down before the fuse blows. Repairing the harness is not difficult.

Bugeye58,
both me and my pocketbook have been familiar with Moss for longer than I care to remember. Their harness is on my "short list".

John Loftus,
I'm familiar with their "price quote", but I didn't realise they had prices for individual components. I'll check that out.

Patrick67BJ8,
I have NO harness to repair.

Reid,
maybe it's a mid-western thing, but people around here wouldn't stay in busness very long by not listing prices up front. British Wiring could just put a disclaimer saying that the final price may vary with exchange rate. Having said all that, British Wiring is still on my "short list".

Now, back to my original question: has anyone done business with Britboy55?

How many of these suppliers get their product from the same manufacturer?
