Part only lasted 64 years….

A couple of days ago I installed a “hidden switch” on my ‘59 Lambretta. When they were made they didn’t have an ignition switch. You could walk up to it a start the engine. The only theft protection is to lock the front wheel fully left/right.
After installing the ignition kill switch I started it to drive it. I never made it off the driveway since the ~original~ throttle cable snapped.
I’m a little miffed that it only lasted 64 years :popworm:

A strongly worded letter to Lambretta is in order regarding the shoddy quality control! :geek:
 
And the replacement part is $1.50! What a beauty!
As luck would have it, I had a spare inner cable in my parts stash. Twenty minutes later it was back on the road.
 
Golly - I'll bet that if all our "devices" were to expire within a year of purchase, we could end unemployment for ever!
Maybe not in this country :popworm:
