A couple of days ago I installed a “hidden switch” on my ‘59 Lambretta. When they were made they didn’t have an ignition switch. You could walk up to it a start the engine. The only theft protection is to lock the front wheel fully left/right.
After installing the ignition kill switch I started it to drive it. I never made it off the driveway since the ~original~ throttle cable snapped.
I’m a little miffed that it only lasted 64 years

A strongly worded letter to Lambretta is in order regarding the shoddy quality control!

As luck would have it, I had a spare inner cable in my parts stash. Twenty minutes later it was back on the road.

It was the fitting of the anti theft switch it didn’t like.
i guess after 64 years it was worth the effort to stop a youth riding off on it. But I’m sure a lack of ignition to Hotwire and a kick start would do that adequately nowadays.
