As posted in an earlier thread my whire wheels in the front do not fit: the spokes touch the drums. Since a friend of mine told me that the drums for a BN6 are different for wire wheels and steel wheels I took a look at the part number of my drums:

* 1B7526 for the rear drums
* 1B4570 for the front drums

The drums have even a different shape.

Does anybody know whether the drums are correct for a BN6 having wire wheels? Is there a list of the part numbers for a BN6 available in the Net?

Cheers,

Volker

Volker,

Correct drums for the BN6 are as follows:

Wire Wheel Front: 1B4570
Wire Wheel Rear: 1B7526

Disc Wheel Front: 1B7422
Disc Wheel Rear: 1B7490

From the BN6 Service Parts List AKD855 3rd Edition.

Volker;
I had the same problem with my 60 spoke wire wheels. They were not supplied for the BN6.
I broke several spokes when I cornered hard due to the drum applying pressure to the spoke.
If you use the 48 spoke or 70 spoke wheels you should not have that problem. I like the 60 spoke wheel look so i ordered 60 spokes from Dayton Wheel and had then apply a 3/8" off set and had heavy duty spokes installed, they work well and ride better than my old wheels.
I do know of folks that have grooved where the spokes hit the front brake drum. This seems to work for them also.

Thank you very much for your comments.

Duane, do you know how to get a copy of the Service Parts List?
BabaKahawa, how did you apply the offset, is it the offset of the rims?
