My son who is in Paris since yesterday sends me a text late this afternoon letting me know that he is on the underground. He knows "something " is going on but not quite sure what's happening since he's on the train. We must have sent at least 25 messages back and forth. I turned on CNN and kept him up to date on the situation. Thank goodness he's safe and staying with friends. It was an agonizing afternoon.

what a horrible time - in our prayers

My brother and his youngest daughter are also in Paris with my aunt and uncle. Driving home I heard the news. Luckily they had already checked in to their hotel for the night (less then a mile from the theater), when it started. We all hate this 24 hr connection we have today but for his wife and family it proved to be a great relief.

They posted this picture at about 7pm. Our thoughts now turn to victims and their families.

Thanks JP. He's safe, staying with friends. I'm so glad he's not in a hotel which could be a target.

Glad your family is also safe Paul.
My son was returning from dinner.

Glad your son is doing well. Thank goodness for jet-lag.

My favorite city. Shocking. So sorry for the people of Paris... and the likely consequences on/to the migration problem.

Glad to hear the family members are safe, I have been following the horrific story most of the night. Seems to be all over for now. What an e ££ing world we live in, sorry Basil, don't know how else to say it.

What a terrible tragedy. And as the world grows more crowded and more unequal, I'm afraid these horrors will occur more and more.

Vive la France!

There is much I'd like to say right now, but I'm too ****** ….

It's about time for the civilized world to wake up from its PC coma and put a stop to this madness.

Fortunately Basil has rules that keep politics out of the Forum.
