There's an independent Alfa Romeo shop there, run by a father-and-son team, the real deal Italian folks. I rarely get to spend time there 'cause the trip is usually during a holiday and the place is closed. Monday AM I got to "go to work" there... it's like visiting with MY family. They had a really well done Duetto in the shop, 1750, all Weber'd up proper, too. Got to get me digits a bit dirty fettlin' with Luciano's Milano, swapped some more "war stories" and generally enjoyed th' company.

True craftsmen are few and far between, these fellas are. Google Auto Veloce in Miami and the info is there. Plenty of testimonials.

A few years ago one of their clients found a Mini and it needed the SU's gone thru. Luciano said he didn't know a THING about 'em, asked me if I'd do 'em. "Sure" sez I. He shipped them here, I went thru the things, set 'em as near as possible on the bench and shipped 'em back. He bolted 'em up and hit th' key. VROOM! He was over th' moon. All he had to do was a bit o' balance and idle adjust. That gave me "street cred".

Thoroughly!

When we first met a decade back, it was 'cause my bro-in-law mentioned he was getting new "neighbors" where he has his business. He said something like: "There's these two guys movin' in next door, they have those Italian cars like yours, father and son. They're born in Italy" He couldn't fill in any more details than that. Had NO idea of the difference between a Fiat and an Alfa, actually. I wander'd in over a Christmas visit, was intro'd to Gino and Luciano. Bro sez (pointing at me): "He's Italian." Gino, With English as his second language says: "Born in dis country?" I said 'yes"... to which HE says: "FALSE Italian!" with a sly grin on 'is mug. We talked a bit and he reveals he spends part of the year in Italy at a house he has there. I Told him the name of the town my gran'far left in 1915 to come here... It's the SAME TOWN his home is in, he knew some of the relatives!!!

...the planet is a small and amazing place.

doc, dont ya know all us i-tys come from the same town?
