If I were to paint the timing cover, water pump housing, front engine plate, thermostat housing and steering rack, are there some easy suggested colors at ACE Hardware that would be close enough to original that no one would be offended?

And for the block, itself?

I assume I use a gray primer on all?

Thanks, all.

I never use primer on engine blocks and heads. Also radiators. I try to keep the thickness of the paint to a minimum for heat dissipation and paint seems to adhere to cast iron very well without it. I use primer on the tin parts though. But that's just my theory.
