64BJ8. What color are the rear drums and front caliper's suppose to be? I think the drums are some shade of silver or grey/silver? What about the calipers? Where they painted too? What kind of paint was used? Brand?

Mine needs to be painted. I was thinking of using an epoxy paint made for calipers. I've used it on my other car and it hold up nice. If I do paint the drums and possibly the calipers, using the epoxy silver, it will be a bit glossy. Maybe OK? Your thoughts? My car will be a nice driver, not a concours car. Roger

Hi Roger, Use Moss's Silver and you will be good to go.---Keoke

From what I've read in the Concours Guidelines, the rear drums are always silver (same color as wire wheels) and the calipers can be silver or black. I painted mine black thinking they won't look as bad with brake dust on them but may change to silver if I don't like the look of the black through the spokes.

Cheers,
John

Thanks for looking into that John.
My other car I painted the calipers red, car is red, for I thought it would be nice to see them.

The Healey has such beautiful wheels and I'd like to see how yours looks with the black calipers. Could you post a photo, with the wheel on?

I'm going back and forth between seeing the caliper or having it blend in by painting it silver. Thank you, Roger

Not too much to see but that's the idea /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif ... with the calipers and rotor center black it has a less cluttered look. But silver would look good too.

Btw, these are the 60 spoke Dunlop wheels

Nice car John. Where are all my Healey parts, under my car. Makes sense, good use of space.

Thanks for taking the photos. Wow, those are some clean rims, tires, car. Looks like your car is coming along nicely. Roger

Except that both of you live in an earthquake zone. That trans will sure do a number on the bodywork if the car goes over. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif

I'm finishing up the brakes soon (hopefully this weekend) so I can put it on the ground to better ride out the next big one. It has been handy to store some parts under the car but the number of boxes has been diminishing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
