I'm going to take my heater out and clean it up and paint it this weekend if it gets warm enough to paint. It has a large patch of missing paint with some surface rust. Any tips or suggestions from y'all?

Also, the numbers on the replacement sticker that Moss has don't match the ones on my heater (which is coming apart). I'm not doing a 100 point restoration anyway, but would replace it with the correct sticker if I could find one reasonably priced. Any suggestions? My current sticker's markings are:

Code FHR.2453/03 ??
Model F.275
Voltage 12

And the word Smith's is actually stamped in the metal.

Disconnect the heater flap cable at the dash. Leave the other end attached to the flap. This will make it easier to reassemble. I'm in the process of doing this very same job right now although my engine bay is stripped so my heater came out far easier than yours will.
 
According to the guys on the MG Experience forum, this may be the worst jobs one can tackle on the MGB, both removing and reinstalling. I have the fan and motor out and painted tonight. Will tackle the box tomorrow, with luck.
