Paint Going Back On Bugsy- Wonderful Spring Fun

Managed to get a coat of paint on the scuttle and on DS Door last night on Bugsy. And walked out again a few minutes ago to apply a second coat, garage door open, sunny, 65 degrees, birds chirping I can feel progress being made. Paint BTW is not the expensive spray job but the good old Rustoleum thinned 50% about as close as I can get to BRG Paint Job. First coat rolled on smooth and second coat was applied and got even better. No not as nice as epoxy or urethane jobs but Bugsy was never intended to win concours awards just to be fun to drive.

That $8.49 can of Rustoleum Gloss Hunter Green will be more than enough to do the entire car, a few foam rollers and a new quart of mineral spirits, all told I'll have $35-$40 into finishing this paint job. Believe it or not the car looks really great when I'm done. A little technique to be mastered and you need to build the paint up in layers, at least 4-5, but application only takes a few minutes and it can be done in sections. Foam roller goes into a ziplock bag until I'm ready to do another coat so cleanup is minimal. When I'm done wet sand with 600 will take out all of the little imperfections I've created. Touch up is really simple.

The smell of mineral spirits and paint drying is just a nice pleasant reminder that there is an end in sight and driving will happen soon.Time to wash down the back half of the car and get that into paint as well.

Oh Jim, pic pls.

i talked about doing rustoleum last summer, but now that ive started and spent alot of hours doing body work, i plan to go with something more acceptable ....polyeurethane ....
doesnt mean rustoleum wont work, but i can get paint for around $150 and thats not bad, for a nice paint job
ill only have about $300 invested including equipment. ...z

Yeah, let's see some pix! I picked up a special paint copy of Hot Rod magagize not to long ago that showed a Rustoleum job on a Falcon. Turned out nice!

Please post some pictures... This may be just the thing for my car...
I'm of the same mind... I want a driver, but it would be nice if it looked a little better...

Let me get a little further along and I'll post some pics. I'd go with something better in the way of paint but since it is a do it myself project and better half has major allergies to smelly paint got to go with what I can do.

Every time I start doing body work I think and reassure myself, this is a 40 year old car, it had rust issues when it came out of the factory, I cannot stop the rust no matter what I do, I can only slow it down. There are many dings and dents to Bugsy. Far more than I can fix in any reasonable length of time. This car was never meant to be concours, just fun to drive. This hobby is exactly the type of challenge you want to get out of it. I'm happy with looking good in my 40 y.o. LBC at 10 feet. I'll post some pics when I get some more work done.
