Does anyone know of a modern paint code equivelant for Healey Blue. I need to do a little touch up protective pain thing before the winter lay up. It can be close but not in a area largely seen. So any modern equiv's? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif
 
Wolf Paint will custom mix three cans of spray paint for about $50.00. It is a lacquer paint. I'm pretty sure they will also provide it in a brushable can if you ask. The three can minimun is because the smallest amount they can mix is a quart. They know the code, they can mix from the make and model.

I hear tell that there were no less than three shades of Healey Blue used during the production life of our cars.

The PPG code is:

BCARGBU2 C
Ice Blue Met 2ct

D769 Extra Fine 391.5
D742 Rich BLue 55.0
D750 Olive 24.8
D759 Matting 18.1
D749 Brown 10.3
D753 White 7.8
 
Tower paint (1-800-779-6520) also does this. No minimum but the shipping cost (hazardous material) may encourage you to get a couple of cans. They do enamel or lacquer (your choice) and the colors I got were spot-on matches. Very quick response too.

You'll need make, year, and either color code or name of color (preferably both).

They're in Oshkosh so maybe you'll just drive up to get some.
 
I took the BMC paint code for Healey Blue to the local auto.store, they had no trouble finding this on the Net. The result was perfection (the carlooks more than perfect) if a little expencive! Let me know if you need more info.

This is the repsonse I got back from PPG around the Healey Ice Blue Color I need.

"Thank you for your interest in Nexa Autocolor. The old ICI Autocolor number is still accurate; there is no cross reference required for this reference number. Since the acquisition of ICI; both PPG and Autocolor have mnaintained unique brand reference codes. (2301M has not changed in any form )

In a previous reply I mentioned a BMC paint code for Healey Blue,I have just found it:it is BU2.I could send pics.of finished car if any use to you.
