Paint codes

Hi, looking to paint my newly restored chassis/inner body in British Racing Green.
I have bought a rattle can from AH Spares Code GN29
On a paint trial metal strip it looks almost black...i.e., very dark.
Any suggestions as I'm looking at photos on Google images and BRG seems lighter.
Advice needed, Thanks Al.
P.S. Car is 1965 BJ8 which featured being bought by Dennis Collins and Richard Rawlins on Fast and Loud from Desert Hills in Arizona.
Did not know this when I bought it from Collins Bros on Ebay!

If you have access to a PPG automotive paint store.
Ask for Jaguar OEM paint code 46169.
Have them mix a test sample.
So you can spray it out and see if it is what you want.
Also have them mix a test sample of the same code but with double the amount of white.
The 46169 looks like the original Austin Healey BRG to me.
With double the white it looks like what Triumph used on their TR4s.
BRG will look darker or lighter depending on what light you view it in and also the angle at which the light strikes it.
Hope this helps.

Im rather fond of my BRG

Further to my post previously the car was / is Healey Blue and that is what is on the Heritage certificate.
I am going to convert to RHD which is an obvious departure from the original but I would like it to be BRG ( light).
What are your thoughts,....Is this a step too far??
Cheers Al

Its your car so you can paint it however you want. In terms of resale value its best to stick to Healey production colours and BRG was an option for BJ8s, the fact that yours wasn't that colour originally doesn't really matter IMHO.

Thanks for that Derek, I,ve had 3 BJ8s previously but 25 yrs ago so this hopefully is my keeper now I,ve retired.

Barnman,

If this helps this is the old paint sample sheet from BMC. Not even sure where I got this but it was a while back when I was looking to match Healey Blue color on my car.

What ever color you choose be sure it agrees with the color used on the car'spanels too.

This is my 28-year old Dark BRG GN29 paint.
