Paint codes and painting advice

Okay, got a quote for some paint& body work today, basically going to cost me $800 that I don't have /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

so, I own a compressor and I've got a borrowed spray gun I'm inclined to try my luck and see what happens /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Can always take it to the shop if I make a big mess /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Anyway, I've got a 1975 MG Midget, here it is:

frankly, it looks more orange than this though, this pic is a little closer:

Anyway, what is the likely paint code?

Also, is this a single layer paint? or is it multiple coat and all that?

I'm removing my bumpers and want to do some metal work too. I want to patch the holes behind the turn signals up front, build up the back areas near the rear tail lights, fill in the holes where the luggage rack used to be and so on.

I can weld rather well, so the metal work doesn't scare me. Bondo and paint do.

Here's my inspiration:

Anyway, please let the suggestions fly, I'm all ears /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

please note that I'm not a complete loon and don't intend to jump into this all at once. First step would just be some touch up paint up front, where the mounts for the RB used to be, then maybe I'll try plugging the holes for the turn signals and so on. I have a large section of sheet metal I intend to practice on first too......

well, talked to the manager at NAPA and he's pretty sure he can get me blaze in a rattle can for $12, so I ordered one of those. That'll make the touch up from removing the front bumper a snap! need to get some black too, but now this job is looking awful easy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
