Paint code or number for silver wheels

I tried a search but could not find a post with a code or number for the silver used on Triumph wheels. I found a spray can color but I am looking for a PPG or other number or code to buy a pint or so. I have 6 wheels I want to do.
Can anybody help?
Thanks

Here is what I dug up for MGA rims, which match what most folks use for MGBs. I have no idea if these are correct for a TR6, but nothing solid seems to be out there (at least that I could find) for TR6 rattle cans.

WHEELS - Silver wheel paint
Ford Silver - DAR-2593
Ditzler Delstar - Code #16
Eastwood - "Detail Silver"
Moss Motors "Wheel Paint" - 220-560
Subaru code 9985 - "Jewel Silver"

The Moss catalog cross-references the 220-560 to TR6 for what it is worth.

The Ford color is Argent. Have a can downstairs

According to Martin Senior Paints, there were two silvers used on Triumphs. One was Pearl Gray #25103 and Silverstone Gray #20381. The Pearl is darker than the Silverstone. Both would look nice on wheels.

PS, The Silverstone color has been with Triumphs for a long time and Silver Grey seems to be the predecessor of Pearl Gray.

When I did my 64 Spitfire, I used a Chrysler silver for the wheels. Its the silverey silver I could find and I like it. Not original color though.

If this is worth anything so be it.

When I re-furbished the wheels on my 79 spit I used 4 coats of a fairly bright silver. A little too bright for my taste as it really. My brother suggested after they had three days to set up and harden, knocking down the brightness with 000 steel wool, then plain brown paper bag for s slight polish. I am very pleased with the results.

P.S. There is an excellent article by Mr. Fitzgerald re: re-furbishing rubber bumpers.

FWIW, I have had very good results with Duplicolor silver wheel paint. No need to etch prime. Goes right over bare alloy wheels. One can will do two wheels for around $5. Just finished redoing a set of Panasports that the powdercoater screwed up big time. Owner of the wheels is real happy with the way they look now.

Sorry Don, It's in the newest Hemmings Sports and exotic mag.
Craig Fitzgerald has been involved in a project where they are restoring an MG to sell with all of the profits going to a charity garage that fixes up donated cars for low income folks to use for transportation, a very good cause. I believe it is called "The Good News Garage".

Anyhow this months entry, he re-furbished the rubber bumpers on the MGB, the results were quite nice. Sparked my interest as my 79 Spit is sporting fairly dull bumpers as well.

Hey let's go back to Dudley. The heck with Mark's paint color! :jester: :jester: Can I find it online. My Wedge needs a good shine on the bumpers

Mornin Mark, are both the PPG and Ditz #'s 2593 or is there a typo?

"PPG 2593, and DITZ DAR 2593"

Thanks, Tinkerman

Hey Don, Sorry bout that I looked online at the Hemmings Sports and Exotic site. I couldn't find it anywhere. I subscribe to the Mag and it came this month, I would guess it's the September issue. It covers re-paint on the MGB wheels too come to think of it. Look for it at the news stand, I think you can also order a free sample issue on line. Hopefully it's the right month.

Don, I looked on the web site a little more closely and still no luck. When you go to the sports and exotic link you can click on all articles and it should show up (in a month or two) under DIY, Project with a Heart, or MG project. When I looked today they had only the seat covering project for the MG from last month. If I had a scanner I'd pull it right off the mag for you.
