is there a place to look up the paint code to find the origonal color of my 61 midget, i did some sanding on the hood and found 3 different shades or red and orange
the code on the door sill says GBE 015987
and the one under the hood says GAN 1L 16082

Smeghead009,

There are no "codes" on the car for the paint color(s). The tag you reference is a body assembly tag and is totally useless. Usually you can find some original color in some tight recess unless the body has been acid dipped. You could then match it to an original color on Paul Tegler's site (see other reply). The only other way is to get a British Motor Industry Hertiage Certificate for your car. This will list amoung other things the original color.
