P6 2200 manual gearbox

DAK anything about these?

It goes into all the gears OK and 1,2,3,4 work with no probs, well so does reverse in that it propels the car along backwards, but it sounds as though it's engaged another gear just enough that the dogs are touching but not engaged enough to be doing any driving in the other gear.

I know a few things that it might be, my question is Does anyone have specific knowledge of this gearbox to know which adjustment it might be to sav me time working through everything.

Thanks

HHHHmmmm. I was beginning to wonder that as well.

What made me think that it was engaged was that the propshaft was turning (with the back end on stands) therefore it was in gear, but maybe there was enough drag to make it turn without being fully engaged.

I'll have to try again and look closely at the linkage to make sure it is fully home.

Thanks

Let us know how you get on..........I would think that if the gears were clashing with others enough to make a noise there would be a bang and you'd be left with a collection of assoted cogs! Leads me to believe that reverse isn't fully "home"....

Good luck!

2200 manual problems.........i concur.......your shifter is not fully engaged .........it may turn the wheels backwards on stands but on the ground under load it would in all likelyhood pop out of gear or then you'd hear the grinding.....Have you had the gearbox out recently......the shifter when correct, will have the same angle from 1st to the tunnel floor as 2nd has to the tunnel floor.....you are probably too far back, meaning the shifter is near straight up and down in 1st or close to..........this will allow 2nd to engage but give trouble with reverse.............read the manual for proper settings but that should get you going

Good luck
