How can I tell if I have an overdrive transmission in my 1976 B. I checked the engine numbers and it originally was equiped with an overdrive. I also have all the electricals for it except a switch. Are the number on the transmission accesible. How can I decipher the numbers I will find on my transmission.

Well, the only way to know for sure is to crawl under and look at the rear of the transmission...if you see a smaller gearbox attached to the transmission with a small rectangular cover with a drain screw on it and a two wires going into another box on the left side...that is the overdrive unit! Sounds like a smart answer, but really, that is what I had to do to be sure when I bought mine. It is easily identifiable as an overdive unit.
